Rebecca Hampshire

Rebecca’s main focus in Romania is directing a ministry called “On Eagles’ Wings” (from Exodus 19:4). On Eagles’ Wings is dedicated to helping poor, Roma children get an education and break the cycle of illiteracy. This includes taking children to and from school, helping with homework and actually teaching children how to read and write so they can enter school. In the 2009-2010 school year, there are 17 children that are being helped. However, as important as schooling is, On Eagles’ Wings is dedicated to introducing Jesus and His way to the children and their families. This is accomplished by including Bible teaching in the school lessons, learning Bible verses on the way to and from school, bringing them to church and spending time with them and with their families.

In the past year, the two oldest boys, 14 & 15, have turned their lives over to Christ and changed from lying, ditching and other things to studying the Bible and sharing the Gospel with friends and family. In addition to this, one aunt gave her life to Christ and is constantly encouraging her husband and in-laws to follow the way of Christ. All of the staff of OEW is welcomed and trusted in these Roma families. These are tremendous praise reports considering the chasm that exists between the Romanian and Gypsy cultures. On Eagles’ Wings is an outreach of Calvary Chapel Bucuresti. Rebecca also serves on staff of CCB helping wherever is needed; whether it is cleaning, driving, children’s church or hosting a team.
