I am a missionary living in Kiev,Ukraine for the past six years and directing a mission work called Young Adult Orphans Discipling Ministry (YAODM). In this ministry, young graduates from orphanages in the Mariupol area who want to continue their education in local institutes or universities and also want to live godly, Christian lives receive financial and spiritual help. They are required to attend church and Bible study and regularly meet with a mentor/discipler who counsels and prays with them. They are also required to work, study, and do service back to the church or orphanage. The ministry pays their education and living expenses while they attend school and work.
My role as the missionary is to visit Mariupol 3 to 4 times a year to train the administrator and mentor/disciplers in Biblical counseling. I visit other churches and orphanages in the Mariupol area to speak about this mission work and teach on Biblical counseling in order to find participants for the program and mentor/disciplers to assist them. In the last two years, the ministry has extended this program to young adult foster kids living with Christian families. In Kiev, I do Biblical counseling with young adults and couples.
