John and Lily met while in pharmacy school. After they were married in 1993, they began serving together in international missions through Project Compassion, an evangelical medical missions group. They have participated in short term mission trips to numerous countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe and Africa. After trips to Africa in 2000 and 2002, John’s developed a desire to serve there long-term.
After a three year “sabbatical” from international trips to raise their three children (Joseph, Benjamin, and Gabby), John again went to Africa in 2006. This time, he went to Uganda with Maratha Chapel and Far Reaching Ministries (FRM). One of the places he ministered was Calvary Chapel Entebbe, a new church plant at the time. A year later, Lily felt the Lord calling her to go to Africa. The Lord opened the doors for her to serve in Entebbe and Kitgum. After the trip and through much prayer, they sensed God’s call for them to serve in Entebbe and to partner with FRM. Over Christmas vacation in 2008, the entire family went to Entebbe, Uganda for a month. Serving in the mission field together was a real joy. The children consider themselves missionaries, ready to share God’s love. During these trips to Uganda they have served in children’s and women’s ministries, and medical outreaches.
When they return, John will be involved with opening a Calvary Chapel Bible College extension campus in Entebbe. The Bible college will be an important addition since it will help ground Entebbe’s Christians in God’s word. In addition to homeschooling the children, Lily will be involved with women’s ministry and evangelical medical outreaches to various islands in Lake Victoria.
