Prayers:

• Please pray for Bubba to be healed of this cough and sinus problem before we begin these long journeys. It’s not fun to travel with sinus issues
  
• For happy and safe travels back to Kenya and that our luggage will be in tow with us all the way. I need much grace during these long travels as all that sitting really irritates my back. We fly out on Tuesday morning, August 31st, back to Kenya and arrive September 2nd
• That the Lord will fill us with much grace and strength as we try to pack up our apartment in Kenya in 4 short days. Many of our things are going to other missionaries
• For traveling mercy back to the US on September 7th. Again, please pray for Cathy’s back and that our luggage will not get lost
• We will need to purchase a car once we get in the States as we donated our other one before we returned to Kenya last year. Pray the Lord will lead us to a good deal
• I meet with 2 back specialists in San Diego during the 3rd week of September. I’m really hoping that I will be candidate for laser surgery. Pray the Lord will lead me to the right surgeon. Once I find out the kind of surgery I’m a candidate for we will schedule it quickly so I can have time to recover
• We are going to the Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, KY, November 11-13th. We’re team teaching one session (How to Survive in the Bush) and Cathy is teaching 2 others (Global Burden of Disease and Starting a Successful Antenatal Program). Pray the Lord will help us get our lectures together as it can be a stressful time trying to work on these projects together
• We will have a lot of readjustment to make coming back to the US for an unknown period of time. Pray for us as we deal with reverse culture shock
• Several opportunities for future work have been presented to us. Once in the States we will begin investigating them more closely and perhaps seeing about doing some vision trips. Our heart’s desire is to follow God’s leading. Pray we will hear His voice clearly
• Last, but certainly not least, pray for our relationship with each other and the Lord to continue to deepen and become more intimate

Praises:

• We had quite a few medical outreaches and ministered to hundreds and hundreds of impoverished people
  
• We thank the Lord for a bit of fun before leaving this beautiful island. We just got back from an overnight stay at Eden Resort here on Mt. Apo, which is about an hour from Davao.
